FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything parents usually ask us before their first order.

Does my child really need skincare?

Not a full routine, no. But young skin is thinner than adult skin and loses moisture faster, and between the sun, humidity and dust here, it takes a beating. A gentle cleanser, a moisturiser and sunscreen cover almost everything a child needs. The sunscreen matters most — a large share of lifetime sun exposure happens before eighteen.

My child is outdoors constantly — does that change what their skin needs?

Quite a lot, yes. The skin barrier is the outer layer that holds moisture in and keeps irritants out, and in children it's still developing. Sun, pollution, chlorine from swimming, sweat from sports, air conditioning, harsh winters — each of these chips away at it a little.

You see it as dryness, dullness, patchiness, or skin that stings after a wash. It's rarely dramatic, which is why most parents don't connect it to anything.

Nothing complicated fixes this. Cleanse without stripping, moisturise to restore what the day removed, and use sunscreen. If your child swims regularly, our AquaSportz wash is worth adding — chlorine is particularly rough on the barrier and ordinary soap doesn't clear it properly.

What ages is Clariteens for?

Four to sixteen. We formulate differently across that range because skin changes a lot in those years. Our Shiny Sprouts range is for 4+, and Acne D'fence is built for 10+ when oil production picks up and breakouts start.

Can't I just use what we already have at home?

You can, and plenty of parents do. The issue is most family soaps and body washes use stronger cleansing agents meant for adult skin, which strip natural oils from a child's. That's usually why kids feel tight or itchy after a bath. Our formulas clean more gently and put moisture back.

Which products should I start with?

Moisturiser and sunscreen. If you buy nothing else, buy those two — our Daily Sun Protection Kit has both and works out cheaper than separately. Add a cleanser once your child is washing their own face. For 10+ with breakouts starting, the Acne D'fence range is the better starting point.

What if it irritates my child's skin?

Everything is dermatologist tested and made without parabens, sulphates, mineral oil or artificial colourants. Formulas are pH balanced for young skin and the cleansers are tear-free. Even so, any skin can react to anything — do a quick patch test on the inner forearm first. If your child has eczema, allergies or a diagnosed skin condition, speak to your paediatrician before starting.

Is sunscreen really necessary for kids?

Yes, and it's the one product we'd argue hardest for. Sun damage builds up from early childhood. Ours uses mineral filters, which absorb and scatter UV rays, and it's made to go on without a heavy white cast — usually the real reason children refuse to wear it.

What should my child use for school, sports and functions?

For school, keep it to two minutes — moisturiser and sunscreen before leaving, that's it. Sunscreen matters more than parents expect here, since most kids get their heaviest sun exposure during break and games period, not on holidays.

For sports and swimming, the order flips. Sunscreen before, and a proper wash after — sweat and chlorine sitting on skin for hours is what causes the irritation, not the activity itself.

Functions and birthdays are where the GRWM kit comes in. The lip and cheek tint is made with edible-grade ingredients, which is the question most mothers actually have, and it comes off with water. The fragrance roll-on is water-based and alcohol-free. Most children want to feel dressed up like everyone else, and this gives them that without borrowing from a parent's dressing table.

Is a lip and cheek tint suitable for a child?

It's a light wash of colour, not makeup in the way adults think of it. Made with edible-grade ingredients and plant oils, no preservatives, and it comes off with water — which matters, because children lick their lips. Most parents buy it for birthdays, functions and school events rather than daily use.

How long does one product last?

Around 30 to 40 days for one child with daily use. Kits work out cheaper per product than buying the same items separately.

Are your products vegan and cruelty-free?

Yes to both. No animal-derived ingredients, and we don't test on animals.

Where are your products made?

At our own facility in Mohali, Punjab. Shelf life is 24 months from manufacturing, and every batch is dermatologist tested before it goes out.

Is this a good gift?

It's become one of our most common reasons for ordering, particularly the GRWM kits. Birthdays, Rakhi, Diwali, back-to-school. The appeal is that it feels like a grown-up gift without being adult products, and children like having something that's theirs rather than borrowed from a parent's shelf.

The kits arrive presentable enough to hand over as they are. If you're buying for someone else's child and unsure about age, message us — we'll help you pick.

What are the delivery and payment options?

Free shipping anywhere in India. Cash on delivery is available, and prepaid orders get an extra 10% off at checkout. Orders usually reach you within four to five days, and you can track yours on our Track Order page.

What if I'm still not sure what to buy?

Message us on WhatsApp with your child's age and what you're trying to sort out — dryness, tanning, breakouts, whatever it is. We'll tell you what to start with, and we'll tell you if you don't need something.

Still have a question? Message us on WhatsApp at +91 77430 72827 or write to contact@clariteens.com — Monday to Saturday, 10am to 6pm.
